That's when you know you've found somebody really special, when you can just shut the fuck up for a minute and comfortably share a silence.

tree hugger
Sometimes I wonder how high the price of gas has to be before people start revolting. I was shocked to walk by the gas station last night and see a gallon of regular is up to $3.80. I don't drive, so I'm blissfully unaware of gas prices, but I'm terrified just the same. It's becoming increasingly possible that number goes up to $4.00 by the summer. And the cost is clearly pushing more people towards public transportation. I've had more employees approach me about MTA passes this week than any other time during my position in Benefits.
The obvious response would be for drivers to drive less, therefore spending less on gas. I'm sorry, but boycotting gas stations for one day isn't sending messages to the government or oil companies. All it's doing is proving you don't need to fill up everyday. And yet people continue to drive insane gas guzzling vehicles. If automobile companies had strict mileage regulations from production, we woudln't be in this mess. Plus, consumers should be more educated about their carbon footprints.
I've never been a big SUV/oil/war = CORRUPT person, but I'm genuinely scared about the direction this country is heading in. The obvious reaction to increasing gas prices is to ease our dependence on foreign oil and focus on domestic energy sources. Why is it so hard for the government, businesses and consumers to embrace green technology?
The next president has a long road ahead of them, and this Vanity Fair piece verablizes the need for change better than I can.

better than high life
Champagne in a can.
Part of me loves drinking champagne straight from the bottle, while another part loves the idea of a six pack of champagne. Even better - a 12 can fridge pack.

scissors, please
Because of my self imposed shopping ban - besides special PUMA shirts, ok YES I HAVE A PROBLEM - I'm forced to get creative with my current wardrobe. Lately when I have honest to god nothing to wear, I perform t-shirt surgery. I cut and slice until my shopping craving goes numb. A few weeks ago I transformed a too big Clash shirt into a hot punk rock number and the other night I modernized an old ELO shirt by cutting off part of the sleeves and neck.
I'm not the craftiest girl, but I'm quite proud of my creations. Thanks to Kat Von D, my kinda hero, who posted a great DIY video on her MySpace blog. And by kinda hero, I mean she's hot and goddamn I wish I could wear bikini tops and knuckle tattoos to work.
Watch and learn.
